Second Step
Social Emotional Learning Curriculum
Second Step is an evidence-based, social skills curriculum that covers areas such as empathy, anger management, impulse control, problem solving and decision making, as well as getting along with others and dealing with changes. Each class will receive 10- 12 classroom lessons over the course of the school year covering these and other related topics in varying detail. Lessons are provided by the classroom teachers. Some skills that will be covered include:
-Recognizing emotions in oneself and others
-Managing strong emotions -Having empathy for others |
-Controlling impulses
-Communication clearly and assertively -Maintaining cooperative relationships |
-Making responsible decisions
-Solving problems effectively |
